Replacement engines are shipped completely dry without engine oil for transit safety. Prior to turning over the engine for the first time, fill the crankcase with 0.59L of fresh 4-stroke engine oil (SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30) and confirm the level on the dipstick. While the XTX series eliminates oil changes through advanced filtration and thermal management, regularly check the oil dipstick level before each operation. When mounting the engine to your mower frame, check that the 25mm output shaft keyway aligns cleanly with your blade boss adapter before torquing deck mounting bolts evenly.
