Yes, the TP400B is very compact and fits in most car boots. Once assembled, the handles can also be folded down.
We stand by our machinery. The TP400B/450 is covered by our comprehensive 3-Year Maximus Warranty for domestic use within the UK, supported by our full UK spares department and technical support team.
We stock a complete range of replacement parts (tines, belts, cables) specifically for the TP400B (Engine Model: 156F).
The heavy-duty metal tines have a radius of 120mm, providing an effective tilling depth that easily turns over the top layer of soil, making it perfect for standard domestic gardening and allotments.
The TP400B/450 features a simple "Single Speed Forward" operation (approx 0.21m/s). You just engage the drive lever on the handle to start tilling at a steady, easily manageable pace.
The tiller is equipped with a Deadman's safety handle. Simply let go of the drive lever, and the tines will stop spinning immediately while the engine continues to run. This ensures instant safety if you encounter a large rock or need to pause work.
Under optimal, theoretical lab conditions, the machine has a work rate of up to 400m² per hour. However, actual productivity will vary depending on your specific environment, such as breaking up heavy clay versus turning loose topsoil.
Oil: Use 0.6L of 4-stroke SAE30 engine oil. Check before every use.
Fuel: Standard Unleaded. The fuel tank has a capacity of 1.6L. We recommend using E5 if storing the machine for over 30 days to prevent carburetor issues. For those tracking efficiency, the engine has a maximum fuel consumption rate of ≤1.4kg/h under heavy load.
The front wheel is for transport only. Ensure you pull and flip the wheel up before you begin tilling; otherwise, the machine will not dig into the soil correctly.
If the engine runs but tines don't spin, the clutch cable has likely stretched (common in new machines). Adjust the barrel tensioner on the handle to remove slack until the belt engages firmly.
