It seems that parts of the UK have finally made it through the devastating floods and generally bad weather that we have been experiencing over the past few weeks.

Homes, cars, businesses and farmland have all been affected and there will be a clear up operation under way and our very best wishes go out to all of you.

Titan Pro may just be able to offer some help restoring your outdoor space back to its former glory.

UK Begins Clear Up After Worst Winter Storms

Clearing away any debris should be the first job you do. If you have any larger trees that have fallen down then use a chainsaw to make quick work of cutting them up.

When you’ve cut the tree’s up into logs, you can store the logs in a dry space outside for them to dry out and you can then use them in the fire or offer them to affected neighbours as a friendship token if they have a fire because you never know when you might need to call on your neighbour.

If there are any snapped branches hanging off your trees that take these down, this can be extremely hazardous especially if the strong winds return. Instead, put the wood through a chipper with any other organic debris. You can then use the wood-chipping mulch to protect any exposed ground area’s in case the weather takes another turn!

Don’t worry too much about broken stems of plants, these can be easily pruned back to health.

Take care though as a vigorous pruning session after a harsh storm can put extra pressure on your plants and that’s the last thing they need.

If you find your plants to be waterlogged then you need to take action immediately. Few plants can survive being waterlogged for too long because they will drown. The water will fill all of the air spaces in between the soil particles which prevents oxygen from getting to the plants' roots.

You need to remove the plants and tidy up their damaged roots, replant in fresh new compost and protect with the mulch you’ve produced.

If you have evergreens then check to see if there is any damage, sometimes these can be far more vulnerable than your usual garden plants. If they have any broken branches then do exactly the same for them as you would your trees, remove them. When the weather improves it may be an idea to take the tops off your evergreens especially if you have conifers.

No doubt the rain will have caused the grass to become sodden, ensure you don’t allow anyone to walk on it as you may cause real damage. Obviously clear any debris off the lawn but wait for the weather to improve before you start using it as a walk way. Your grass needs time to recover from the storm.

We have a whole selection of garden machinery which can help you with the clear up after the storms. We can’t take away the devastation these storms have caused but we can help you clear up the mess outside and make your property that little safer too.
